Semper Supra –
Guardians We!
Virtual Concert

CALL FOR MUSICIANS!

We are looking for band instrumentalists and singers to participate in a VIRTUAL CONCERT of this new song.

As of this writing, this song has NEVER been performed in public before, and has never been performed at all except by the musician(s) in the demo recordings on the Main Page.

We would love to get between 48 and 96 instrumental musicians and 24 to 48 singers to participate in the World Premiere virtual concert of this tune.

How To Take Part

Do you play an instrument? Are you a singer? Then we want YOU to be a participant in our VIRTUAL CONCERT of Semper Supra.

If you are willing and ready to be a part of this PREMIERE PERFORMANCE of this work, here’s what you need to do.

First, fill in the Volunteer Form below and submit it.

Once we receive your form, we will send you three things:

  1. An MP3 file with a recording of the computer rendering of Semper Supra. If you are a singer, your MP3 file will contain a low-to-medium volume version of the band recording with a louder track featuring the notes in your part (soprano, alto, tnor, or bass).
  2. A PDF file of the music you will need to sing or play.
  3. A PDF documenting outlining the recording and submission procedures.

Once you receive these items, you should practice your part until you are confident you can make a good recording of it.

To record your performance, all you need is a cell phone with a video camera, and a way to have your camera held steady during the recording. A tripod with a cell phone bracket is ideal for this. It will also be good to have a way to listen to the MP3 file through headphones (such as plugged into a computer) as you record.

When you are ready to record yourself, set up in a place with a plain background and no windows behind you. You should be well-lit. After you have everything set up, make a test recording playing or singing a scale, transfer it to a computer or large tablet, and play it back. This is the best way to see what needs adjusting to make sure you get a good recording.

The great thing about doing it this way is you can do as many takes as you like, until you get one you are happy with.

When you have a good recording, send it to us. Video files are usually quite large, but because this song is so short, you will probably be able to attach it to an email. The file will likely be much smaller than 1MB, which should attach to almost any email. If you have problems with that, we will have alternatives outlined in the Procedures document we send you.

As of this writing (late June 2022), we do not have a deadline for submissions, but due to what I perceive to be the time-sensitive nature of getting a real performance “out there,” we would like to hurry on this.

If you can think of any other information that a Virtual Concert participant might need to know or have, please let me know by using the volunteer form below. THANKS!
