Program Notes for Downeaster March
Composer: David P. Miller
Published by: Silver Clef Music Publishing, Inc.
Our next tune is the Downeaster March. This march was written more than 20 years before its first performance, when the composer lived in Maine , which is why it’s called Downeaster.
This march sat in a filing cabinet for decades, and was finally resurrected in 2004 for the Mississippi Community Symphonic Band. The first public performance of this was on September 11, 2004 at the Healing Field in Brandon, Mississippi, where there were 5,000 U.S. flags on display in a 10-acre field to commemorate the fallen and current heroes in the war on terrorism.
Enjoy now this performance of the Downeaster March.
